China Friendship Program

The China Friendship Program is a new ministry done in combination with the Just Peace Ministry of the MBA, Walker Center and the Chinese Christian Scholars Association in North America. The program brings together Chinese Christians and scholars of Christianity with North American Christians and scholars, in a spirit of friendship and fellowship. Participants gain a greater understanding of the contributions each community has to make to ongoing cross-cultural under-standing and friendship. It is a mission and evangelism program that spreads the gospel through academic and scholarly work and individual story telling.

Through this program Christians and people interested in Christianity meet in open discussion to share common interests and concerns, learn about each other's countries and faith communities, and witness to the many ways Christianity is practiced and studied around the world. Chinese scholars visit Walker Center for two to three weeks each summer. A group of people from US churches visited China in 2003, and this past October the Just Peace Players performed at seminaries and universities in Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, and Nanjing, China. Participants in both programs had many opportunities to talk about their lives and scholastic interests, breaking down cultural stereotypes and witnessing to Christ's love at work in the world.
